The South Beach Diet is a popular weight loss diet program developed in the mid 90s and published in a best-selling book, "The South Beach Diet" in 2003 by cardiologist Arthus Agatston. At the beginning, The South Beach Diet was known as Modified Low-Carbohydrate Diet. Later it was renamed The South Beach Diet after the South Beach neighborhood in Miami Beach where Agatston practiced. The South Beach Diet contains lower carbs and higher protein and healthy fats that helps rapid weight loss while suppressing appetite and promoting heart health. However, it is not a strict low carb diet like Atkins and Keto Diets.
